I find Photoshop to be the best but I also find paint shop pro very close behind and is quite a little bit easier to use. What makes Photoshop better I believe is the add-ons that are available. Both have trial ware copies to try them out.

Screen Dash. Its the only photo editor that can take screenshots, do paint and photo editing, and host images. Thus, you can share images with your friends and family. Its free, easy to use, and provides very professional photo editing.

Adobe Photoshop would have to be the best, but GIMP is the best free photo editing software out there. It doesn’t have all the features of Photoshop, but my school uses GIMP and our photos turn out looking professional.

Photoshop is the profession choice by far. Corel Painter is probably next. GIMP is the best free one. Roxio Photosuite is just a lousy attempt at justifying the price of the Roxio suite.

The difference between amateur-looking photos and professional photos is not necessarily in the editing (although a good editor can certainly improve a photo).

A professional photographer has a trained eye for composition, lighting, symmetry and knows exactly how to use his/her equipment. A pro can take a good picture with a $100 camera, while a novice can take a crappy picture with a $5,000 camera.

That being said, photoshop is your best bet.
